The Radio Awards, which recognise outstanding achievements in the South African radio industry, will be celebrating 10 years in support of local radio talent when the awards take place in Sandton on 18 April 2020.

The Radio Awards have grown to become the “Oscars of the radio industry,” setting the benchmark for all radio stations and professionals to strive for, and to be celebrated by listeners for the outstanding work they do.

The Radio Awards, owned by Tiso Blackstar Group, have been managed by members of Tiso Blackstar Events Division since they were launched in 2010.  The Radio Awards are in line with the Group’s commitment to ensuring the successful development of the South African media industry, alongside its investments in the MOST Awards, the AdFocus Awards, and the Future of Media Conference.

“We are, of course, open to organisations that would wish to come onboard through partnership.  The Radio Awards offer a return that significantly outweighs the investment and presents a unique opportunity for a brand to shine,” says Taryn Westoby, Head of Tiso Blackstar Events.

The 10th iteration of The Radio Awards is also focussed on transforming the leadership structure from a CEO position towards one that is more inclusive, and representative of the radio industry, through consensus-based decision-making. As such, an advisory panel will provide input in charting the way forward.

“With the guidance of a diverse advisory panel, Tiso Blackstar Events will continue to drive the success of The Radio Awards to deliver a credible, well-judged transparent programme and the much-anticipated event that the industry raves about each year,” says Westoby.

The Radio Awards is proud to continue recognising and honouring South Africa’s outstanding radio talent.  In doing so, we hope to inspire and encourage stations to enter the 2020 awards programme when entries open on 20 November 2019.
